Prerequisites RequiredIn the United States of America trauma is the leading cause of death for individuals up the age of 45-50 years of age. Overall, trauma related events are the fourth leading cause of death overall for all ages. The resulting acute and chronic injuries will usually require a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, nurses and therapists, to provide a comprehensive treatment plan for successful recovery. Due to the challenges these trauma events exact on the healthcare system there is a significant need for every clinician and provider to have a clear understanding of how these events impact care delivery and patient outcomes.
The focus of this course is to help the individual therapist provide comprehensive, high complexity evaluations to identify and address key areas of potential limitation for a patient following a traumatic event. Following the completion of this webinar the therapist will be able to understand essential elements to include in the evaluation, common injuries most often encountered in the trauma population, the important role of multidisciplinary communication and collaboration, and necessary considerations for therapeutic interventions.
